‘Peekaboo,’ directed by Pratik Kothari is a partially black-and-white short film that paints a terrifying picture of data and technology. The film concludes with a warning that Big Brother is always watching, but it is the manic ‘watching’ that we, as a society, indulge in that is brought to light. The protagonist spends his time dissolving into the screens around him and their many windows, websites and waiting eyes. Soundtracked to tense, bass music, ‘Peekaboo’ is dangerous without being obtrusive. It feels far closer to home than an episode of ‘Black Mirror,’ and consequently, far more frightening than it, too.
